Cooperative Movement In India: Role of PR by Harshendra Singh Vardhan on 14.08.2013

<Insert a ppt of IFFCO> ..... Not to worry I wasn't sleeping so I did manage to jot down a few points  and they're as follows:

"In communication there is no truth, just perception"

Cooperative is a farm or business or other organisations that is owned and run jointly by its members who share the profits or benefits.

Indian Farmers Fertilisers COoperative Limited has 23 Elected Directors on board and 7 Board of Directors. There are 128 markets and every village has field officer and matters can escalate, meaning that there is definite hierarchy and it acts as a check.

IFFCO has 5 plants:

  • Kalol, Gujarat. The plant was commissioned in 1975
  • Kandla, Gujarat. The plant was commissioned in 1975
  • Philpur, Uttar Pradesh. The plant was set up in 1981
  • Aonla, Uttar Pradesh. The plant was commissioned in 1988
  • Paradeep, Odisha. The unit was acquired in 2005

Owing to high volumes of memberships, new membership has been stopped. The depth of reach of IFFCO is on par or comparable to SBI and Post Office.

Research on all three levels

  • Primary: "original works of research or raw data without interpretation or pronouncements that represent an official opinion or position".
  • Secondary: "tale primary sources and interpret them".
  • Tertiary: "are the third level of credibility as a source, and they generally include bibliographies, Internet searches, and indexes".
IFFCO has diversified into various tenets whilst still keeping the 'Pro- Farmers' very much as the guiding principle. For example they've tie up with Chattisgarh power company. You might also be interested to know that  Canada's economy is usually run by the fact that there is abundant Potash. Potash is to Canada what Oil is to Oman. IFFCO also has tie-ups with Peru and Argentina for Oil and Gas respectively.
